Shattering excuses - Why you deserve a Boudoir experience

Shattering Excuses

When we get nervous or fearful, we make excuses for why we can’t do/have something. We even make excuses not to love ourselves or take care of ourselves, especially women. We have been conditioned to think we must put everyone else’s needs ahead of our own and to be the Martyr.

What about life is just busy, we are too crazy at work, or have have to buy the kids something before ourselves excuses? We also use excuses about how our bodies aren’t nearly as ready as we’d like them to be. Do you know how many times I’ve heard “Oh I want lose 15 lbs first!”?

These are all just stories swirling around in our head to keep us getting what we really want. Maybe it’s time to question those stories and get to the truth about what you deserve.

I’m exposing all the excuses I’ve heard to show you that no matter the excuse, you CAN do a Boudoir session. Let me show you that no matter the excuse, you are worthy of this experience of seeing and feeling your own unique beauty! You ARE worthy of self-love.

“I don’t have enough time for myself”

It’s important to understand that if you aren’t taking care of yourself mentally and emotionally, you’re not going to be able to handle taking care of everyone else. This is easier said than done for women because we are hard wired to take care of others. It’s just what we do and we do it well. But, if you’re giving and giving and not taking the time to recharge how can you possibly have the energy to give well? Sometimes I am the WORST at making sure I am giving myself mental health breaks and that’s why I think it’s so important to let women know it’s ok to slow down. I make the same excuses as above and sometimes I need talk to myself like 'I’m talking to my best friend and say “Hey girl. I see you working hard, but you need to take it easy and stop pushing yourself too hard!” You’re not a robot!

At a boudoir shoot you are able to breath, be present with yourself and re-connect to who you are as a woman separate from all your responsibilities, if only for a few hours. This will help ease up on how you think about yourself, which may not be too loving. Think of all the mental energy you’ll reclaim by not comparing yourself to others, or worrying about what other people will think of how you look. You get to see where your beauty really comes from and this lifts such a huge mental weight that women carry around ALL THE TIME. It’s exhausting and it doesn’t have to be this way!

You need to take time for yourself, why not spend it having an experience that will last longer than getting just a mani/pedi?

“I’m not where I want to be weight wise/I’m not a size 4 and will look ridiculous”

Did you know that the ideal body type portrayed in advertising is only found in only 5% of American females? ONLY FIVE PERCENT. That’s insane and it goes to show our culture is trying to make us feel bad about the way we look so they can sell us useless, and sometimes harmful, stuff that will never help us feel good about ourselves. It’s a vicious and harmful cycle.

WHY do we have to be a certain size to be worthy of being seen as beautiful? WHY do we have to fit a messed up cultures narrow standard of a perfect body to LOVE your own body? WHY are we even comparing sizes, when no two women are the same?

I think it’s amazing to want to be healthy, but does that mean you have to hate your body to do those things? There is so much shame in Diet Culture and it doesn’t lead to feeling good about yourself. You should love yourself every step of the way to becoming healthy and happy. Experience a boudoir shoot to celebrate WHO you are now and all that you are as an amazing woman!

“I never feel sexy, or don’t know how, so a boudoir shoot must not be for me.”

WRONG.

This excuse is actually the EXACT reason you SHOULD do a boudoir shoot.

In this hectic day in age it is super easy for women to lose touch with our femininity or sexuality. It happens a lot and it is absolutely normal. I mean there aren’t exactly a lot of classes, books, or honest dialogue on how to maintain your sexy. A great way to find this side of ourselves again is to experience a boudoir shoot to ignite that spark back in us. I know it’s inside you somewhere…it might even ignite a spark between you and your spouse once he see’s how you’re feeling oh-so-good about yourself AND those gorgeous images of you!

Another thing to remember is that you don’t HAVE to wear super sexy clothing/ lingerie to be able to feel sexy. This is a unique feeling to yourself so that means finding out what YOUR sexy is which is different for everyone. There are so many other outfit ideas than lingerie and honestly it’s more exciting to find something different that challenges the norm of “sexy”. If you need ideas, I will gladly talk to you about them or you can check out my Pinterest boards on getting outfits inspirations.

“A boudoir shoot is an investment and I don’t have all the money right now.”

Yes, a boudoir shoot IS an investment. It is also an investment in yourself. You are investing in your well-being and confidence as well! How many times have you gone to get a mani/pedi or shopping to give yourself a pick me up and bought things you didn’t actually want or need? I bet if you added up all those items it would be A LOT of money that probably just added to your credit card bill and not anything positive to how you actually feel about yourself.

In order to book your shoot, there is a session fee and then you just purchase only the images you love at your viewing & ordering session after your shoot. I offer collections at big savings so you can get the full Boudoir experience with beautiful products to display your beautiful images. I do offer payment plans to help you get all of the images your want and deserve. If you have any questions about our payment plans, shoot me an email while setting up your shoot.
